Somatostatin is reported to inhibit the proliferation of various kinds of cells, including
lymphocytes, through its receptors (
1
). Octreotide, a somatostatin analogue, has been used for the treatment of lymphomas,
although its effectiveness is unclear (
2
). We have cared for a patient with a low-grade mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT)
lymphoma of the stomach accompanied by pancreatic somatostatinoma. Here we report
that during the clinical course there were reciprocal changes in the plasma somatostatin
concentration and the progression of the lymphoma, suggesting an inhibitory effect
of plasma somatostatin on the proliferation of gastric MALT lymphoma. To read this article in full you will need to make a payment
