A 40-year-old man with type 2 diabetes presented with a 5-day history of fever, night
sweats, and new-onset, bitemporal, pounding headaches. He reported no cough, chest
pain, dyspnea, or upper respiratory symptoms; no nausea, vomiting, neck stiffness,
vision changes, photophobia or phonophobia. He had recently travelled to rural Minnesota
with his family, none of whom had similar symptoms.
