A Mass in the Stomach

      A 42-year-old woman presented to the Emergency Department with complaints of fatigue, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, and palpitations. She felt well until 1 week prior to presentation, when she started to have shortness of breath and fatigue with activities of daily living. Over the next few days, her symptoms progressed and she was unable to walk minimal distances around her house. On the day of admission, she had an episode of severe epigastric pain that lasted approximately 30 minutes and resolved spontaneously. She also had several melenic stools. She denied fever, night sweats, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, hematemesis, or hematochezia. She did not have a history of any medical conditions and was not taking any medications. Her mother had a history of Crohn disease.
