Perplexing Pruritic Plaques and Pancytopenia: Subacute Cutaneous Lupus

      A 32-year-old woman with a past medical history of hypothyroidism presented with 2 weeks of subjective fevers and chills and a 1-month history of a rash. She reported that the rash began behind her right knee and progressed to her chest, neck, axilla, antecubital regions, and back. The rash was painless, but pruritic. She also endorsed painful crusted lip sores that prevented her from eating. Her only medication was levothyroxine. She had immigrated to the United States from India 4 months prior. She denied alcohol, tobacco, or illicit drug use. She was not currently sexually active.
