Coughing up Blood: Behçet's Disease

      Classic symptoms of a rare inflammatory syndrome were compounded by an even more unusual complication. A 24-year-old man of Western European descent presented with a 6-month history of fevers, night sweats, hemoptysis, and a 44.1-pound (20-kg) weight loss. He also had painful recurrent oral and genital ulcers. Hemoptysis had been episodic, and he had expectorated one-half cup of blood several times. His last episode of hemoptysis occurred 1 month prior to admission. He had no past medical history.
