In the Zone

      The electrocardiogram (ECG) during supraventricular tachycardia is often nondiagnostic, but findings at initiation and termination—the transition zones—may suggest a specific diagnosis. This was the case when an 89-year-old woman with a history of hypertension and hyperlipidemia presented with profound weakness and nausea. After wearing a Holter monitor earlier in the year, she was given a diagnosis of supraventricular tachycardia.
