Interstitial cystitis is a chronic, severely debilitating inflammatory condition characterized
by urinary frequency, urgency, nocturia, and pain on bladder filling (

). Sjögren’s syndrome is a multiorgan autoimmune exocrinopathy with general mucosal
dryness and systemic symptoms. Both syndromes are 10 times more common among women
than men. There is anecdotal evidence of an association between these syndromes (

). We therefore estimated the prevalence of interstitial cystitis–like symptoms among
