The study is the Levels of Inflammatory Markers in Treatment of Stroke (LIMITS) study, which is an observational study within the Secondary Prevention of Small Subcortical Strokes (SPS3) trial. SPS3 is a National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke–funded trial of secondary stroke prevention. In addition, he received compensation over the past 3 years as a member of the BMS-Sanofi Speakers' Bureau. In addition, he has received compensation over the past 3 years from GlaxoSmithKline for consulting on a clinical trial in the prevention of prostate cancer. He has received compensation in the past 3 years from Daiichi Sankyo for consulting on interpretation of their clinical trial results for prasugrel, an antiplatelet drug, as those results relate to stroke. He also expects to receive compensation from Pfizer, Inc, for consulting. And has received compensation over the past 3 years from Jarvik Heart for serving as a member of a clinical events adjudication committee for one of its clinical trials.
